This is currently the newest Game Maker book, though, it's still in production.
The thing that makes GAME MAKER GEEK book series so special is that GMIndie allows several (if not many) to help write the book. The first book is exactly 15% completed, yet it is still ready for a sneak peak preview! You'll find a preview video below.
So far the book offers both good guidance in fair sized text, good screen shots, exercises like word searches and cross word puzzles, read aloud audio version and more.
First Steps starts the reader at the very beginning, from the moment they download Game Maker! By the end of the book, you'll know your work area much better, know how to create a solid game engine, know DnD, know basic GML and know how to polish your game properly. GMIndie even threw in some tips on how to distribute your games.
Note: that isn't a lag. that's what happens when you use the middle mouse scroller

The book is looking really good so far Brian, hopefully it will help stop the flow of awful games on the YoYo Games website. On second thought nothing short of a miracle could stop that, hopefully this book will reduce it.

I'm surprised at how clean the formatting is and how good the text looks already. Very nice job! I can't wait to finish this project up.
Rofl at the contents page: "Learning game maker with our book is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling it brings." XD
