GameJolt Invention Contest - Hosted By NAL

GAMEJOLT — GameJolt's newest contest started a little while ago, and is running until Valentine's Day, 2011. That would be Feb. 14th, for those of you who don't know. The contest's theme is "Invention", and is being hosted by the famous NAL. The original topic can be found here.

You can interpret "invention" in any way you want (i.e. not everything has to be about inventing the light bulb), so be creative with your usage of this theme!

Prizes:
The prizes for this game are rather creative (compared to most money based competitions). They are games (NAL's favorites), and each place gets to choose from a list of games.

1st place: VVVVVV + Psychonauts or Bully: Scholarship Edition or Super Meat Boy or Minecraft Alpha Code or £8 of games of their choice on Steam or £5 PayPal

2nd and 3rd Place:
VVVVVV or Psychonauts

The Rules:

KniteBlargh
- Your entry must be an original game created just for this contest.
- Your entry must relate to the chosen theme.
- Your entry must be playable on Windows.
- Collaborations are fine. Go for it with someone else! We like team work!
- Only one game submission per person/team.
- There are no restrictions on creation tools, libraries, file sizes or anything like that. We like diversity. Make it in Flash, make it in Construct, code it up from scratch yourself, we don't care.
- Pre-existing code bits are acceptable, but for this contest, we'd prefer you not to use premade game engines. Code bits must have been made by you originally.
- No mandatory fullscreen or resolution changing. Can include a fullscreen/window switching option in-game.
- You're encouraged to place the contest poster in your game, although it's definitely not a requirement.

Make sure you do not user pre-made game engines! That includes 2Dcube's fancy 360 degree gravity platform engine! Do not use them!

How in the world do I enter?
Upload your game to GameJolt and put a link to your game in the contest topic, which can be found here

  1. I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I'm assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I'm not very web smart so I'm not 100% positive. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks
